Disney+ released the trailer for the highly anticipated original series “Becoming Karl Lagerfeld,” chronicling the rise of the iconic fashion designer in 1970s Paris.
Produced by Gaumont (Lupin) and Jour Premier, the six-part series received positive reviews after premiering at Canneseries and is set to debut on Disney+ on June 7th.
The series begins in 1972 when Lagerfeld, then 38 years old and unknown to the public, falls in love with the charismatic Jacques de Bascher (played by Théodore Pellerin), who inspires Lagerfeld to pursue his ambition of becoming France’s most famous fashion designer.
Amidst clashes with Yves Saint Laurent (played by Arnaud Valois) and supported by Pierre Bergé (played by Alex Lutz), Lagerfeld’s journey unfolds against the backdrop of Paris, Monaco, and Rome, depicting the rivalries, epic parties, and tumultuous love affairs with de Bascher and friends.
Renowned French director Jérôme Salle directs the first two and sixth episodes, with promising director Audrey Estrougo helming the remaining three. Salle also serves as executive producer alongside Jour Premier’s Arnaud de Crémiers.
